Summary
Set directly after Season 4 of Bridgerton- After John Stirling’s death and his cousin’s abrupt departure, Francesca flees Scotland, unable to endure the silence of Kilmartin House alone. Instead, she retreats to a newly prepared London residence, clinging to routine and society, to anything that might keep her from unraveling.
Then Michaela Stirling returns.
What begins as a necessary reunion to settle the affairs of John’s Scottish estate quickly becomes something far more dangerous. Grief lingers between them, sharpened by unfinished conversations, lingering glances, and a tension that refuses to be ignored, no matter how desperately it should be.
Michaela is only meant to stay a few days. But as the hours slip away, restraint begins to fracture, and Francesca finds herself standing on the edge of something she cannot name, cannot allow, and cannot seem to resist. Because when Michaela leaves again on Monday morning, she may not be the same woman who let her go the first time.
