    “We need to look at that wound,” Eddie is saying, slowly undoing the knot of Nancy’s bandage. His movements are uncharacteristically gentle, and Steve leans into the touch. 

    “Since when are you a doctor?” Steve asks with a breathy laugh, but the movement only serves to irritate his injuries, so he cuts it off immediately. 

    “Oh, I’m not. But Buckley and Wheeler are busy, so you’ll just have to settle for me.”

    I’m not settling, Steve wants to say, but he can only manage a small groan of protest. 

    Or: After they escape the Upside Down, Eddie helps Steve tend to the wounds that the bats left behind.
