   Summary

   Jasper's time under Maria had been violent and full of pain. He was used to a ruthless military structure, not the gentle parenting of the Cullen family. He didn't know how to behave, didn't know what was expected of him. He felt trapped, feeling the need to uphold strict discipline to keep Alice safe whilst not knowing what discipline meant to the Cullens.

   Carlisle and Alice are there to reassure him, and to offer comfort.
