“What?” He asked in that sweetly young voice that chirped in an adorable way.
“The adoption…it happened to you too- wait.” He mocked a horrified expression, fully aware of the eyes widening on his face before Sasuke frowned even harder.
“What adoption?” He asked in a small voice, half way into destroying Shisui’s resolve on going with the plan before his determination kicked in and he decided that now was too late to back down.
“You…you didn’t know..” he said slowly, watching as Sasuke grew even more impatient and quite angry-

Summary
Sasuke is eight - Itachi is thirteen. He goes to pick his brother up from the Academy and finds him tussling and shouting at a little boy who hollers back like the concept of volume control applies to everyone else but him. The boy has scars like whiskers on either side of his nose, stretching across cheeks rounded with baby fat.
Itachi looks at the boy and sees the ghost of a woman his mother had treasured, hears an echo of the woman he had looked up to at the age of five. He hurts, the same hurt he's felt for eight years now, and makes a decision.
He picks both boys up and takes them home. This, unbeknownst to him, changes everything.

Kushina and Naruto go visit Mikoto's house so Naruto can have a playdate with Sasuke. While the two boys hang out with each other, their mothers reminisce about the old days.
