Summary
Carlisle is fairly certain his son leaving Forks forever and demanding they all leave with him is actually a temporary measure, at best. He also knows Bella is going to absolutely lose it, based on how co-dependent they've been. When Edward makes the family leave, and then immediately runs off to brood, it breaks something in Esme. Rosalie and Emmett split off, and shortly after Alice and Jasper do too. Carlisle thinks that, if the kids are all going to leave anyway, he and Esme may as well go back to Forks. Bella is going to need support right now, and Esme needs someone to take care of. He's briefly concerned about the way Bella has looked at him sometimes, but dismisses the concern. Being there for her in a time of need couldn't do any harm, and Edward isn't here to tell him not to. Carlisle doing this is definitely helping.

Summary
Bella dreams of roses. Wild roses, untamed and unpruned. In a garden of roses held only in her dreams is the most untameable rose of all - Rosalie Hale. She is gorgeous, ruthless, cold, and always out of reach in the waking world. But in her dreams? The soft light of the garden softens Rosalie too. Bella knows and has always known that the Rosalie in her dreams is never the Rosalie she'll get in real life. This had always been fine because she had Edward. Dating Edward was unreal enough, like living in a dream enough, that she couldn't possibly ask for anything else. And then he leaves.
When Bella reunites with Edward in Volterra, it has the consequence of reuniting her with the rest of the Cullens, too. This time, however, the illusion of Edward's perfection has been shattered, and the pieces left don't protect her from her rose garden dreams. Before the Cullens left, having feelings for Rose while dating Edward was awkward, but safe, since nothing would ever come from it. But now? It’s killing her.
