    I have this idea of something different like...

    What if Guero had survived the return from Mexico? What if Teresa and James were bonding while he recovered?

    What if a lot was different? I always wonder what this development of their relationship with Guero would be like there, Teresa choosing James even more explicitly. I've always liked Guero, but more for the actor than for the character itself, so... here's a story that goes through my head sometimes.
    It may not seem very realistic at times, maybe more romantic than it should be, but... let's see what happens. :)

    “It hurts so much.” She choked out from behind her hands. She heard him step forward and felt his hand come to rest on her back, rubbing back and forth. She turned her head, looking up at him through teary lashes. His eyes were conflicted, she saw reluctance but also understanding. Like he knew how she felt but was trying to hide how much it affected him.

    James pulled her into his chest, wrapping both arms around her. The safety she felt in his arms surprised her, but she was too overcome with grief to pick at it. Teresa let herself melt into him as her tears continued to flow. He just let her cry, gently stroking her back in an effort to soothe her.
