Summary
In this fic - Quinn and Julia welcome baby Katy to the family. I was part way through Scenes from the Shore when I started this story, but it was bigger than I thought, so is getting a work of its own. After this little detour, Scenes resumes with Chapter 17: Two Worlds. It's all part of the On the Shore of the Wide World AU, in which Quinn survived the 6.12 shooting and went off to find Julia and Johnny. At first he just wanted to get to know his son, but in time he and Julia grew close again, and now he's learning how to be a family man - a father and a partner. And now, learning how to deal with the arrival of a newborn baby daughter...

I've never written anything before, so you'll have to forgive me for any mistakes or badly worded bits. I don't have an editor (I remember your offer and one day might take you up on it). But my husband and my friends were there for me.
I don't have the words to write a comment on your last chapter. I'm not saying I never will, but for now please accept this little story as a gift. Not a parting gift, mind you. It's been on my mind ever since I finished reading your last chapter. This is how I see it happening. It's inspired by Origins, A Broken Cup and the Shore AU.

In this AU... oh, screw it. This is not really an AU. It's a canon based flash forward, so to speak. Starting at the end of season 6, skipping pretty much anything that can happen in seasons 7 and 8, this is a story that happens almost 16 years later, a tribute to some people whose personal tragedies have been sidelined by the show, and are still being sidelined as we speak.
It's one young man's quest to find out the truth about a father he never knew, where it leads him, the things he discovers about the people in his father's life, and, along the way, about himself and his own family.

Summary
This story is an attempt, as a friend said, to make Pinocchio into a real boy. To put meat on his bones. It's taken me about a year to finish, partly because I wasn't sure it was appropriate to share, also because it wasn't that easy to write, as it felt very personal. But here we are, and maybe there are some other people who feel a need for this as well. I hope it's worthy.
For V- If it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't have started this, and it certainly wouldn't look the way it does now.
For elim- If it weren't for you, I definitely wouldn't have finished it.
