Robert E. O. Speedwagon had never known wealth. He’d seen it often, it was hard to avoid in the metropolis of London, but he’d never had it himself. He’d seen men and women alike devoured by the streets, left starved and half frozen dressed in rags, new born babies left screaming and bare on doorsteps, mothers no-where in sight. And he’s seen the upper class in their horse drawn carriages, and the royal palace with its high gates and constant guard and the complete disparity between them and him. And they hated him, and they hated the people in the slums. Which was fine, because the poor hated them just so. The rich would mock and ignore a starving child, their hearts seemed made of rough poor-quality leather. Speedwagon had always assumed that every wealthy man was the same. He didn’t know how wrong his assumption was.
