“Rex Lapis?” the little girl whispered, staring up at Zhongli. She spoke so quietly that only one with an adeptus’ keen hearing would have picked it up.
He got to one knee and gave her a reassuring smile. “What is it, little crane?”
“I’m afraid.” Her eyes glimmered with heavy tears, and she turned her face away. “Please don’t make me go back.”
