Summary

Summary
Beatrice kept her head down. It wasn’t intentional at first, but the longer she didn’t look up, the harder it was. Beatrice wanted to be invisible in the schoolhouse, she would’ve removed her name from roll call so she remained unacknowledged if she could. She had no friends, no one to sit with at lunch or partner with for group projects. The isolation was self-imposed — it was a product of her own choices and actions after her mother’s passing — but the loneliness still weighed heavily on her sometimes, still caught the breath in her throat and pulled a single tear from her eye.
Despite this, the most Beatrice interacted with her peers was when they were hiring her to write their essays, which was equally as much for the monetary gain as it was for her own enjoyment.
However, when JC tries to hire her to write a love letter — a love letter of all things — for Ava Silva, arguably the most popular girl in school with an angelic presence, Beatrice’s world flips on its axis.
Of course, she would never write a love letter for anyone. Especially not Ava Silva. But she needs the cash quick so she agrees to one letter and then he’s on his own.
It was only one letter.
Until it wasn’t.
