Summary
"You wear that mask because you think it makes you like death. Cold and distant. Merciless. But Simon, how can I prove to you how wrong that is? I don't know how to put it, but that day, you were an angel. An angel with a shotgun, sure, but an angel nonetheless. You made me believe in myself again. I thought I was gonna die, Simon. And you made me... you made me feel like it was possible to live."

Summary
141 weren't supposed to take in a child. Not on a black-bag op. Not in a shattered outbuilding two hundred miles from anywhere safe.
But a little girl crawls out of the ruined village, terrified and alone-
And suddenly Soap is the one she gravitates to,
And Ghost is the one she listens for in the dark.Half soldiers, half guardians, accidental co-parenting... orbiting each other through her.
It's unspoken.
It's dangerous.
It's starting to crack. What follows is a slow unravelling. Of loyalty, of command, of the careful distance Ghost uses to keep himself alive. There are blacksites and broken bodies, rescues that come too late and confessions that come even later. There is anger sharp enough to wound, tenderness dangerous enough to stay. And beneath it all, the question neither of them knows how to answer:
What do you do when the person you love keeps choosing survival over being held?
A quiet, aching slow-burn about trust, control, and the terrifying act of letting someone lead you home.
