Dust chokes the streets for the second time in one summer, smothering the town from above and below. Red plains dust drifting up, black coal dust bearing down. It's not the only thing making it hard to breathe.
Young Barret Wallace, a 19-year-old miner, has just witnessed four men lose their lives in an accident underground. As the pit owners brush off calls for proper compensation, justice seems like a mirage on the horizon. Meanwhile, his 13-year-old neighbour Jiori (Knife, Female) waits anxiously for her mother to return from the city.
