The passing days are as ordinary as they can get. So ordinary it verges on madness, because Conrad truly acts like nothing ever happened. Which is a good thing, and it isn’t.
Having the guy she cheated on her fiancé with weigh in on what shade of pink works best for the peonies on the aisle kind of triggers her fight or flight response.
Having the guy who bent her over the sink and called her a whore in her mind make her burnt pancakes every morning is, objectively, kind of weird.

" 'I prayed for you. I prayed for you each night.' Belly cried out, uncaring of who might hear, not when she saw the tears beginning to well in Conrad's eyes as she screamed. 'I prayed for you, but my prayers weren't fucking answered.' She finished, defeated as she melted onto the floor into a puddle.
'I prayed for you, too. I prayed you'd change your mind that entire summer.' Conrad confesses before he can think, and there's a bit of venom in his voice, one that wasn't there before. 'I guess neither of us had our prayers answered. Maybe no one's listening.'"
