Summary
This is first and foremost a queer love story. The queer experience weaves its way into every aspect. The feeling of finding yourself. The warmth of growing with someone who loves you as you change into who you are. The sheer magic and joy of queer love.
By magic, I mean real raw magic that you find late at night nestled along the swaying grass that digs its roots into the deepest part of your identity, until you realize it's been with you all along. Magic that's hard to control and takes time and effort. The energy in the people around you, the energy in the buzzing street lights and the humming railroad tracks. Magic that flutters in your chest like a caged bird when you bite your tongue. Magic that bursts out in spouts of anger, magic that you can cook into pastries and pies.
