Summary
Gwyneth Philips is thinking about dinosaurs.
That wouldn’t be unusual on its own. Everyone from her teammates to the coaches to the fans on the Internet know about her special interest. It’s basically impossible to stop her from thinking about dinosaurs.
But where she is right now? At this moment? Anyone else might be shocked to find her pondering the unusually long claws of Therizinosaurus.
Because at this moment, she’s tensed up in front of the net during a playoff hockey game, tens of thousands of fans at Canadian Tire Center watching with bated breath as the Ottawa Charge take on the Boston Fleet in the semifinals. Whoever wins here gets to advance to the finals and take on Minnesota (ugh) or Montreal (yay!) in the finals, and claim the Walter Cup for their team.
The stakes could barely be higher.
So why is she thinking about dinosaurs right now, instead of, I don’t know, the game playing out in front of her?
Because if she thinks about dinosaurs, she’s not thinking about Aerin Frankel.

this is something I wrote when I was 18, it's a dramatic retelling of a game of Civilization VI. I haven't read it over since so any weirdness or unexpected cameos by broadway musical characters are my own fault. Settings: max difficulty, marathon speed, huge map, player empire Sumeria, Rise and Fall DLC.
