Arranged partnerships haven’t been commonplace for a long time, and yet the obscenely small portion of the population that aren’t betas have kept the practice alive. It’s pretty much impossible to stumble across someone with a secondary gender naturally, and if you’re lucky enough to find even one, the chances you’ll find another are almost non-existent. Viktor had been lucky to find an unmated alpha at all, even more so one that was only a few hours away by car, and even more so to manage such a feat only a few months after he himself presented.

For the first time since this ill-advised escape began—breaking into Heimerdinger’s office, stealing contraband materials, forging his signature on a prisoner-release form—Viktor considers that he may actually be in danger. It’s the dullness in the man’s yellow eyes, and his bloody fingernails, and the white marks trailing up and down his arms. More than anything, perhaps, it’s his unnatural stillness. He looks nothing like the picture tucked in his file. He looks nothing like a person at all.
“Jayce Talis?” he asks finally.
Something twitches in the man’s jaw.
“Yeah,” he says. “I was.”

Summary
When Viktor was adopted by King Vander and Prince Consort Silco, it was with the understanding that, as an omega and a prince, he would eventually be called upon to serve Zaun by being wed to a foreign royal or high-ranking noble in support of a treaty or alliance. He is ready to do his duty when he is betrothed to the new king of Piltover, who has called for peace between their countries after leading the coup that unseated the old king. It's a marriage of state, and so when he finds out that King Jayce already has a long-term lover in the mage, Counselor Medarda, Viktor tries to set his own expectations accordingly.
But he didn't expect his husband's lover to want Viktor's relationship with Jayce to be a strong one.
He didn't expect to fall in love with his alpha so quickly.
And he certainly didn't expect to ever see the Counselor as anything but a rival.

Summary
“I’m in a band now,” Caitlyn Kiramman says, over the phone.
Viktor remembers seeing that, somewhere. Vaguely. A rock band of some sort, which had been unsettling to hear; Caitlyn had been one of the more talented students he’d ever mentored, and she had stepped off of the path that he has devoted his life to.
But she sounds proud to say it, so he finds himself smiling as he says, “I’ve heard.”
“Yeah? Um. Well. There’s a gig on Saturday. It pays.” He hears a sharp inhale, an exhale, and then she confesses, “We need someone who can play keys.”
Viktor is pursuing his PhD in musicology. He also needs to make rent.
“Viktor might be a bad idea for you right now,” Vi says, straight to the point.
“Fuck off,” Jayce responds. “You know I didn’t mean anything by it. All talk, like you said.”
“Not a lot of folks Cupcake calls in a crisis. She says he’s a nice guy. You’re not crashing out, but Viktor deserves better than to be treated like a rebound without knowing, and if you make shit weird for him and Cait, I’m going to hand you your ass.”
Jayce is a great drummer. He’s just not great at being casual.
