Summary
“For what it’s worth,” Jungwon starts, unaware that he’s quelling a ghost in Jay’s head, two voices overlapping. Jungwon's is louder. “For what it’s worth,” he repeats, husky voice quiet and honest, “I am glad to have you here, no matter what capacity it is in.”
Jay doesn't think Jungwon should be glad to have him here. No one should be.
His presence isn't a blessing, it's a curse.
There's something familiar about the way Jungwon's gaze lingers on him after he bids goodbye though, like he's trying to say something without saying it.
Maybe all the roads Jay has travelled have led him right here, and maybe, not everything has to end in tragedy.

Easily one of the best fics I’ve read in a long while. I’m also a sucker for Pacific Rim AUs but I loved how they wrote the friendship between Jay and Sunghoon and how Jungwon and Jay’s relationship developed this was so good im crying 😭

Summary
玉衣 - yù yī
n. The longing to feel things intensely again
"Why is it that now, as he stares at the mirror and sees what he knows is himself, he doesn’t recognize the person in front of him? So familiar, yet so foreign, and vice versa. The image staring back at him should look the part he’s always been assigned while dancing: determined, passionate, blissful. Alive. But if that’s the case, why does the image staring back at him so closely resemble the look of someone who’s never felt passionate towards a single thing in their life? Why does the image that is him look nothing like the person he’s always been—the person he’s come to be?"
Or
When Riki's passion for dance seemingly disappears into thin air, leaving him having to navigate through the feelings of loss and hopelessness, he must learn to love again.

Bookmarker's Notes
I’ve only made it like 1/5 of the way through this story but I relate to it so much already. I’ve gone through a lot of these feelings when I was studying to be a professional musician. This hits really close to home and it’s kind of refreshing to read long fics like this that handle heavy topics like losing your passion and love for the one thing you thought made you happy when the rest of your life is so hard.
