Dal prologo:
Fece scorrere la playlist e, come di consuetudine, il suo dito andò a fermarsi su una canzone in particolare: Rise Again.
Quando la fece partire, Ranmaru indirizzò lo sguardo verso il cielo terso di quel pomeriggio.
Il giorno seguente sarebbe stato il primo di aprile, lo stesso giorno in cui, una decina di anni prima, il destino gli aveva riservato un inaspettato scherzo, facendogli incontrare un ragazzo che con la sua inesauribile vitalità e il sorriso sempre ben piantato sulle labbra, gli aveva cambiato la vita.
Rise Again era la loro canzone.
Sua e di quel ragazzo che un tempo rispondeva al nome di Reiji Kotobuki.

Then it suddenly wasn't and everything he knew about their relationship was turned on its head.
And he feels stupid for not noticing it all sooner.(Or Kaoru is bad with feelings, makes an effort and learns about taking his time because love is hard. And it's even harder when you have to juggle loving your childhood best friend and dealing with the constant haunting presence of his ex-friend.)
