At an upscale launch party, Ludwig inadvertently clashes with Alfred Jones, a rising venture capitalist who seems to embody the Valley’s nouveau riche tech elite and who seems to be everywhere Ludwig turns.

“What are you doing here?” Jess asks, crossing his arms.
“I got an invitation.”
“It wasn’t sent to you.”
“Well, it was sent to my apartment.”
“Didn’t read the name on the envelope? Huh. Didn’t know it was possible to be so rich that they let you into Yale even if you’re illiterate.”
Logan sets his jaw. “Fuck you.”
“Right back at you.” Jess turns to go.
“Hey,” Logan says, putting a hand on his shoulder and spinning him around again. “We’re not done here.”
“Yes, we are,” Jess says. “This is my workplace, and my event, and I’m saying we’re done, so we’re done.” He pushes Logan’s hand off of him. “Excuse me.”

After Sam leaves for college, Dean finds himself hunting alone. John has him look into a carnival that boasts a “real, live angel!” as part of its traveling show. The angel is real. So are Dean’s feelings for him. So is the evil that lurks in the grimy corners of small town America.
