As the screams of her friends faded, so did the light, and the warmth that had permeated the air of the ocean planet above. The only thing that got stronger as she fell was the dark feeling in her stomach, and the sheer terror in her heart.
She felt wind rush around her, invisible forces pulling her down, down, down.
Then, she felt hard ground beneath her.
Then, she felt nothing.

In other words, Fate and certain decisions from the original show finally pushed me to my breaking point a couple of months ago, and this fic was what it resulted in.
