Summary
He was the Demon Lord of the Round Table; a hero without a sense of justice; a mercenary dog motivated by money. He had no one, and he was never meant to have anyone. At least, that’s what he’d told himself, the day it all ended.
The day the sky turned purple and he had to kill the only person who’d truly known him in nearly a decade. The person he’d trusted, but who couldn’t trust him because he was a demon with a raging thirst for blood.
He wasn’t sure what to do now.
So he kept doing what he always did: find a new job, get more money, and bury these feelings deep within himself where no one would find them.

Summary
To most mercenaries- a job's just a job. Always best to leave personal feelings out in favor of keeping food on the table. Though, the lengths one was willing to go for that money varied from person to person.
To Cipher, every job he took on was just another delay until the inevitable. A long wait for the one moment he'd been waiting for for nearly six years. But when history gets involved, things get tricky; and Cipher finds himself caught struggling to catch the wind.
But it's different, here. For the first time in those same almost six years, he isn't alone.
This can only go wrong.
He hopes it won't.

He breathes out a slow, steady breath. It’s cold, he says. Let’s go back.
You swallow your heart. You breathe, too. “Yeah,” you say. “Let’s go.”
In which we are already living in the end of the world. In which the apocalypse has come and we are irrevocably alive. So what now. What then.
So hey: will you survive the future, for as long as you can bear?
