Summary
Spurned on by a day of binging Harry Potter movies, young Stiles decides to cast a spell to ensure that the person he falls in love with is to impossible to exist.
“Why don’t you want to fall in love?” Scott asks when they’re standing in the middle of the backyard, lit only from the light on the back porch since there’s no moon tonight. A new moon, Stiles thinks absently but something in him tells him that new moons are best for new beginnings.
“Because loving someone means letting them hurt you, even if they don’t want to, even if they’re…dead,” Stiles replies softly, hoping Scott will understand and not make him talk about how much he misses her, how much Stiles misses him, even though his dad is still alive.

Stiles snorts, though he’s secretly pleased by his regular rejecting Danny. “He always looks a bit uncomfortable. I bet he’s married with a kid and a permanent guilty conscience when he’s here.”
