It continues the Doctor's new domestic life, living with the Noble-Temple-Mott family.
He is still healing from millennia of trauma, and the process has thus far included gaining a bit of comfort weight, as well as procuring a pet kitten.
In this story, the Doctor is having a tough week, which is exacerbated when he overhears a nasty conversation that makes him question everything about his new life and place within the family. This story continues right after my first fic "Healing in comfort", so I suggest reading that first :)
The Doctor is still on the path of healing after his supposed retirement, following his face-off with the Toymaker and bi-generation. Many things are changing for the Time Lord, both mentally and physically, but there's a character trait that remains which is both a curse and a blessing - his stubbornness.
One lost kitten, plus one stubborn, soft, Time Lord, plus a very cramped space equals trouble. But never fear - the Temple/Noble/Mott family is here!
