Summary
Buck's eyes are sapphire dark, flitting across Eddie's face as if searching for something buried in his expression. His pink lips part, a breath escaping to dissolve in the cool night air. Eddie’s pulse leaps, and the words that died in his throat suddenly fill his mouth, forming a single sentence. Come home with me.
-
Eddie dates Marisol, desires Buck, and lies to both of them about it.

Summary
Sometimes, Eddie feels like a shook up can of Coke. Or maybe Dr. Pepper, which has that medicinal taste beneath all that cane sugar, the bitterness of children's cough syrup. Sometimes he feels like his skin is fragile aluminum and his insides are a billion bubbles of CO2, ready to expand and explode and push everything right out of him.
OR
Buck tries to leave the 118. Eddie has something to say about it.

Summary
There wasn’t any light pollution anymore, not since the world ended. It made the night sky look different; wider, almost. As Daryl laid there, his eyes found Sagittarius, blinking at him from just above the trees. The bowman. The survivor. The archer.
How often had he stared at the sky as a kid, as a young adult, and not noticed that constellation? He didn’t need its points to navigate, so his gaze had passed over it, cast it as insignificant. Now, it was like those stars were engraved in his soul, chiseled into his bones, branded into his skin. When Carol pointed it out, when she grinned up at him like he’d hung that damn constellation himself, it became him. He was Sagittarius.

Summary
Kaz doesn’t move from his chair, but his mind travels miles. To the icy waters of Fjerda, to the Ice Court. To the Menagerie, when he first saw her, to the Geldrenner Hotel and all her brown skin just a hairsbreadth away.
If she lived still, he would shed his armor. He would say everything he was too afraid to before, all the saccharine endearments and lovesick pleas to keep her in place. He would touch and take what she gives, all of it, even if it makes him choke on sea water and fight to remain conscious. She could have all of him, every crooked and broken and rotted part.OR
A knock at the door in the dead of night. Word of a plundering off the coast of Fjerda—a Kerch ship against a Ravkan one—with only the latter sailing away. No survivors.
Kaz seeks revenge. Revenge finds him first.

Summary
There’s a joke in here somewhere, probably. If he could figure out how to word it right. Hey, so we’ve both been broken up for a while—those Army days, man, shit gets lonely—
So, a widower walks into a bar, and he hasn’t been held by someone he loves in years.
So, the last time I was close to you, really close to you, I was restarting your heart. Isn’t that funny? We can laugh, right? You can laugh. It’s funny.
Jesus Christ.
Eddie rolls over in his empty bed, mashes his face back into his pillow, and forces himself to fall asleep.

Summary
"You’re acting like you’re not going to have to miss me,” Buck says, pressing the bruise. “Like I’ll be able to come over whenever I want, crash at your place when I get too tired, like you’re not leaving the timezone.”
“Yeah, well I’m trying to keep you in my life,” Eddie bites out, “and you’re acting like this is some kind of permanent goodbye.”
“This is goodbye, Eddie,” Buck retorts, his jaw tense. “You’re leaving.”
*
In which Eddie is delusional, Buck is defeated, and they are both handling the move well.

Summary
“You think we should have sex?” Eddie clarified — still in that slow, deliberate tone, like any sudden movement would cause the ceiling to cave in around them.
Buck rolled his eyes. “I mean…not for real.”
“Okay. So you think we should have fake sex."
“Yeah, like reading Our Bodies, Ourselves isn’t the same as watching porn, right? It’d be educational sex.”
“Well if it’s educational sex...”
Or: Buck learns that Eddie's never had a prostate orgasm. Clipboard sex ensues.

Summary
Eddie’s house has felt far too quiet in the months since Christopher left, without the sound of video games, or the clack of crutches, or the quiet rumble of Christopher’s voice as he talks to himself while doing his homework. It’s felt empty - every lonely sound echoing back on itself to give the illusion that it isn’t really alone. But, as the door clicks closed behind Buck, the whole place falls completely silent. It’s like the last part of its beating heart has left, and now nothing but an empty shell remains.
A house is not a home if there is no love living there, and Eddie just sent the last of it packing.

Summary
It’s not like Buck needs anyone to tell him what his issues are. They might as well be written on his forehead in bright red marker. He’s not ignoring it or anything; Buck just doesn’t see the point in re-litigating them every time he feels like this, every time he feels like a dog that got sent back to the pound. It’s not like he doesn’t have his friends and family, and Tommy is sleeping right next to him, but there’s a hole in Buck’s chest he’s had since he was born and he still doesn’t know how to fill it.
When the 118 is closed for reconstruction after an earthquake, Buck is a floater for different stations around the city. He tries not to let it get to him. Much.
