Summary
Bruce had gotten rid of every other bodyguard Alfred insisted he have. As if he hadn’t already learned to survive on his own. Arguing with Alfred was pointless, of course - he’d remind Bruce politely, persistently, that even a man like him shouldn’t walk unguarded. Bruce had nodded, tolerated it, and then quietly dismantled every option presented.
Bruce Wayne doesn’t do vulnerability. He doesn’t do distraction. He certainly doesn’t do temptation - then Clark Kent shows up. Polite, earnest, unnervingly observant. Bruce gives him a week, tops. But there’s a quiet strength behind those Midwestern manners, a presence that keeps pulling at him, despite every instinct screaming to push it away.
In a world where emotions are weaknesses and temptation a danger, Bruce has to decide whether he can control what he feels or if he’s already lost.
