Summary
James Potter is quarterback for the Toronto Blues who have made it to the playoffs which means, everything is at stake. When James is sacked badly and knocked unconscious, his delirious train of thought can only comprehend one thing: Regulus. The man he has been secretly seeing each summer at his parents’ lake house. Secretly being the key word… and now, here James was, mumbling Regulus' name as he lies concussed on a football field. Because at the end of the day, he could lose every single one of his limbs and his first and only priority would always be, how Regulus would react.
This takes heavy inspiration from the HR injury scene... you know the one.
Yes, this can be read as a standalone, but why just read 3K when you can read 298K....? Anyway, go read 'the language of the lake' first, this contains spoilers for that story.

Regulus' summers between college years usually consist of walking around Montreal, finding new places to hide from the world and trying his very best to ignore his family. However, this summer is different. His parents are spending it in France and therefore offer him an ultimatum: France with them, or Ontario with Sirius. France is out of the question. Which leaves a glass front lake house in Ontario. A house owned by James Potter's family, Sirius' college best friend, and as far as Regulus is concerned, a total prick.
Drawn magnetically together, James and Regulus embark on a three year long secret situationship. Its casual. Its nothing. Well.... until it isn't, and secrets have a way of worming their way to the surface... eventually.

Summary
Regulus Black hates Christmas.
Particularly because he works in a nightclub, and witnesses what fools people become when Christmas is involved. He hates everything about Christmas. He also hates love. People in love, people talking about love. Everything about it. Also, he hates happiness. He's just a well rounded grumpy ball of don't fucking talk to me.
Which is why, when an extremely attractive man on the tube begins striking up conversations with him, he finds himself immediately disgusted by his stupid curls and his desperately captivating eyes. Not to mention the size of him, tucked into well-fitting suits and daring to look down at Regulus with that stupid smile. Tube guy appears everywhere it seems, and the idiot can't seem to help but invade Regulus' privacy, daring to ask his name, ask after his day. The audacity.
But as Christmas approaches, Regulus finds himself unwillingly drawn to the idiot with the curls, who makes it his mission to show Regulus that Christmas is brilliant. This agreement is made on one condition: Regulus has to allow himself to be taken on a date. One date, becomes two and eventually, Regulus concedes that maybe, perhaps, Christmas isn't too bad after all.
