It has been six years since the death of Dr. Eggman and the disappearance of Metal Sonic, and yet, Sonic finds it impossible to move on from his perceived failure to save Dr. Eggman’s life and discovering Metal Sonic's fate. Ridden by guilt and grief, Sonic has closed himself off from his friends who struggle to help him as much as they want to.
