Summary
The Gallows, infamous Circle of Magi within the also infamous city of Kirkwall. Mages kept in seclusion from the outside world fight for the slightest sliver of freedom and hope, while firm well-trained templars do everything in their power to prevent apostasy and possession. Maybe there's a peaceful way out of this cycle of abuse and mistrust, maybe if one person (or perhaps two) try enough, the Circles could be made better, and achieve that magic serves man but never rules over him. Follow the dance of wits and willpower between Knight-Commander Meredith and First Enchanter Orsino as their interests conflict and their worldviews clash, in a tense balance where Annulment seems closer with each passing day.
