Summary
She turned back to look at him as he finally turned to look at her. His face remained expressionless but his eyes conveyed a kind of weariness, then returned to their normal stern gaze. Though Lumine didn't realize it at the time, that was the moment when the seed of a specific desire had been planted in her heart. She wondered if there was a way to share his burdens so he could enjoy the freedom of a normal life.
"If you wish to go, you may. I think I may stay here a moment longer." Zhongli turned back to face the vast ocean below them. Lumine hesitated only briefly before leaving him with his thoughts.
***There's a lot of angst and stupid stuff going on in this but in the end it's really all just fluff that came out of my head. This was born out of my being upset that I lost the 50/50 on Zhongli's banner way back when and the fact I first simped for Diluc. And then there's Kaeya, who's always been there. Enjoy!***

Summary
Zhongli and Lumine have grown close since her first visit to Liyue. Having left his identity behind, he set down the burden of his role but also the relationship to every other Adeptus. An immortal living alongside humans is doomed to either profound loneliness or the erosion of loss after loss. But, what if there were another, unlike the short-lived humans? The one person who knew him for what he was now and what he had been before. The one person with whom he could share everything of himself. All things return to dust, and yet time after time he reached for her on reflex even knowing this too must pass. Until then, the process of creation—of new life and new memories—may yet stave off the erosion of his soul.

Summary
Zhongli gently guides her hand to his lips. Handles it with the sort of care she sees when one handles delicate objects. The first kiss is brushed against her knuckles, before the next is dragged to the center of her palm.
It feels almost apologetic somehow.
“Know this, Lumine. If there is ever a time where my words seem far too much for you to bear, I only implore you to remember this one thing. You need only ask and it will all stop.”
Just as Aether left her with a warning before fate tore them apart, Lumine wonders if Zhongli is signaling his own ‘calm before the storm’ for them as well.
