AUTHOR'S NOTE: A Modern!Au one shot based on my AKOTSK fanfic "There Are Still Ravens in the Skies" featuring Baelor Targaryen and my OC Laurane Blackwood. No need to have read the fic beforehand, it can be read as a stand alone one-shot. Also does not contain spoilers for the original fanfic.
"In Modern Day Westeros, Laurane Blackwood agrees to be part in a PR stunt contract as Aerion Targaryen's girlfriend, as part of of an image improving campaign orchestrated by his family. In exchange, she gets an internship at the Targaryen family company, a nest full of nepo babies. But at least she gets to work alongside her closest friends. A win-win situation, save for the tiny little detail of her falling in love with Baelor Targaryen, who happens to be her fake boyfriend's uncle, the father of two of her closest friends and also her direct boss. The two of them embark on a secret relationship marked by yearning, but for one weekend, they get to pretend they could actually be a normal couple"

Como hija menor del difunto señor de Árbol de los Cuervos, Laurane Blackwood nunca imaginó que acabaría siendo forzada a un matrimonio que no deseaba. Y menos con un individuo de tan mala reputación como el príncipe Aerion Targaryen. El día que su tío Brynden "Cuervo de Sangre" Rivers anunció que se había concertado un matrimonio en su nombre, Laurane pensó que sin duda no podía ser la voluntad de los Viejos Dioses. Sin embargo, su destino aún podría desviarse de las profecías que dictaban los planes de su tío, si toma las decisiones correctas. Dicen que la amargura siempre acecha a quienes siguen el camino del dragón, pero ese dolor sólo se puede medir por la alegría que podría encontrarse en su camino. Una alegría inesperada, prohibida, condenada por el destino. Pero Laurane es una Blackwood. Suya es la sangre de los Viejos Dioses, y se les conoce por forjar el curso del futuro. As the youngest daughter of the late lord of Raventree Hall, Laurane Blackwood never thought she would end up being forced into a marriage she did not want. Least of all to an individual of such ill reputation as Prince Aerion Targaryen. The day her uncle Brynden “Bloodraven” Rivers announced a marriage arrangement had been made on her behalf, Laurane thought surely this could not be the will of the Old Gods. Her fated path, however, has the chance of straying further from the prophecies dictating her uncle’s plans, should she make the right choices. They say sorrow always haunt those who walk the dragon’s path, but pain can only be measured by the joy that might be found in its way. A joy unexpected, forbidden, doomed by fate. But Laurane is a Blackwood. Theirs is the blood of the Old Gods, and they have been known for shaping the course of the future. Ravens roamed the skies long before dragons ever came to Westeros, and they are still here after the dragons are all gone.

He’s never acted upon his impulses, never told her how he truly feels, because he doesn’t want to scare his dreamer away. He suspects she feels the same way too, but he wants to be certain.
This trip can serve to test the waters, to give them a try. If she decides she doesn’t want more, he’ll respect that. He’ll revert back to the doting younger brother role and remain there. But if she does want more, well, the floodgates will open then.
