Chiaki offers a waning smile in return and they sit like that for a while, shoulders touching as they gaze out at the eventide horizon before them. Splashes of red and blue on the edge of the world. The sun dips low and kisses the sea.

Summary

Just 6k of introspective VashWood smut. I wrote this with Stampede in mind but it's compliant with Trimax and the '98 anime too.

The signal filtered through the receptor speakers so clearly and with so little interference that Wolfwood startled, as though a stranger had manifested in the cockpit with them. But it was still the five of them, frozen in their concentration. He didn’t recognize the voice or this lonely, haunted string of words, meaningless and unhelpful at the edge of the galaxy. No coordinates, no name, no identification. As if, more than anything, they wanted to be remembered, not rescued. It played over and over again like a song: I’m sorry, and I love you. I’m sorry, and I love you. I’m sorry, and I love you.
This wasn’t a distress signal. It was an elegy.
