Summary
This is not fair. Jean has spent—he was—for five years of his teenage life, Jean had prayed for Kevin to even spare a glance his way. He’d hoped beyond hope, hoped enough to never hope again, that Kevin could take his eyes off the court for a single moment and look at him. The only comfort in any of it had been that Kevin could not like Jean back because he did not like men. To hear now that Kevin does makes the truth of the situation impossibly harder to bear. Summary
The man bit his lip, considering, then held out his hand, “My name is James. It’s nice to meet you.”
Kevin stared at his hand for a beat, then took it in his own, “Kevin.”
James’ hands were soft and warm, and Kevin felt something strange and pleasant tingling in his palms where their skin met. He realised he had held on too long and quickly let go, feeling heat flood his cheeks in embarrassment.
Luckily, this James didn’t seem to notice, or he didn’t care. “What brings you here at this time of the night?”
“Couldn’t sleep,” Kevin said, the ridiculousness of it washing over him. He had never had this problem before.
