Summary
“Beneath the Ash and Silence” is a canon-divergent The Hobbit fanfic in which Kíli survives the Battle of the Five Armies — barely. Left for dead amidst the ruins, he is found and secretly nursed back to life by Tauriel, who has been exiled from her people and now wanders the war-torn lands in quiet grief. Hiding in a forgotten watchtower above the lake, the two begin a fragile recovery — of body, of heart, and of trust — surrounded by loss, exile, and the faint, flickering hope of something more.
The story explores healing, cross-cultural love, and what it means to begin again when everything else has fallen to ash.

Rey was having a good day. Well–not good–there were people in her loft partying it up and doing God knows what to the furniture. It wasn’t perfect but it was her life and she’d earned it. Which is, of course, when the psycho in the mask descended from the sky and demanded that the people of Earth hand over a girl. A girl who shared the same face as Rey.
But it hadn’t been Rey that he wanted. She’d found that out after he’d left her to die on a dustball rim-world on the edge of the empire. Rey had come back from worse(not really) and being dumped on desert planet wasn’t the worst thing. The worst thing was figuring out how to get back home.

A really good fic about abuse. If you don't get how people end up in such relationships, read it. It has a happy ending too, which serves as a reminder of what we can do for those who end up in such relationships.

Summary

Having thrown herself into what work she could get, a troubled young engineer finds herself in a new situation. Both make use of their lots and their lives as they skirt the DMZ and deal with the forces at work there.
