'How old are you three?' Annoyance #2 asks, arms crossed and foot tapping.
'Twenty-two!' Mirabelle chirps,
'Twenty-three!' Annoyance #1 grins,
'None of your business.' I say, crossing my arms right back at her.
She gives me an appraising look, before sighing, 'There’s absolutely no way I’m leaving the fate of an entire country to a group of children,' Hey! A hand comes up to pinch the bridge of her nose, 'Right. I’m coming with you.'"
In which Murderbot has a hell of a time getting used to the new party member. It'll be fine. Maybe. Probably. Possibly. Or it won't. But that's a problem for later.

"I was outvoted. And by outvoted I mean, Mirabelle said that she really wanted this random Defender to come along with us, and I couldn’t say no to her big sad sparkly savior eyes. I mean, I *could* say no (I *did* say no) but that made my organics feel weird and I ended up caving."

Thankfully, the planet is doomed, and the local Savior has some good media recommendations, so there's plenty of work to be done before Murderbot loses it's mind to boredom.
