Summary
John had stopped mistaking strangers for Sherlock in the second year following his death. In fact, he was ready to move on, with Mary. But then he glimpses someone at a pivotal moment, and it changes his life once more.
What if the circumstances of Sherlock's return had been less volatile for John? What if John had realized that marrying Mary would be a mistake, the easy path rather than the right one? This is a story of altered circumstances, timing, and a very helpful Mycroft.

Summary
Castiel left his overly religious and very homophobic household after a less than supportive coming out. Thankfully he still has his brother and best friends, even if he hasn't seen them properly for a while. Life starts to look up for him when he meets a flamboyant red head in his English class who introduces him to her best friend, Dean. It doesn't hurt that he's extremely pleasant to look at.
-
Dean moved away from South Dakota and his adoptive parents, Ellen and Bobby, to attend Kansas University. He's super grateful that he has Charlie with him. Even more so when she introduces him to the hot guy from her English class.

Summary
The constant moving around and general lack of real connections were never great. But being stranded in Lawrence, forced to stay in place until his dad comes for him, is worse. Especially once someone starts hunting him.
Going to the police is in every conceivable way a terrible plan. Accepting personal help from a severely overinvolved cop is quite possibly an even worse one. Above all because Dean is up to his neck in illicit activities and police-related trauma. But maybe, just once, it would be nice to have someone look out for him.

Summary
“How the fuck do you know my name?” Dean hisses.
The man doesn’t look scared. He is watching Dean like there is nothing else worth watching, lips a little parted, eyes a little soft. And blue. Real blue, like the ocean on a postcard.
The ice spreading down Dean’s spine makes him shiver.
“I suppose you could say I’m your guardian angel,” the man murmurs. His breath fogs pale between them. All of him is unnaturally warm, like Dean’s touching somebody with the sun sewn up beneath their skin. “I have known you, Dean Winchester, for a very long time.”
*
Dean meets an angel who says he's from the future. It all gets a lot more complicated from there.

Bookmarker's Notes
“Did he leave you behind?” Castiel asks.
For the first time, he sounds upset. It’s slight—a tightening to his voice, a bit more of a rasp than usual—but Dean catches it easily. What the hell does an angel have to be upset about some guy’s dad leaving town?
