That much was obvious. Rivulets of sweat were dripping down the waxy skin of his face now, despite the crisp air blasting out of the AC above them.
“A-and that’s just the salary,” he continued, straightening up like he’d just remembered something important. “There is a bonus. This isn’t public knowledge, but Cobra, the head of Alabasta, is corrupt. The word is he's dealing in dance powder, using the money to help fund Arlong Park, your old bosses.”
Nami felt her heart jolt cruelly in her chest, everything around her sharpening into focus as the words spilled out of his mouth.
“Ms. Mikan, how badly do you want to screw over the company that killed your mother?”
