Becoming the camp’s de facto leader was not a choice Amihan made for herself nor sought for entirely. Yet, it was her who consistently found herself in between their quarreling views, an arbiter of sorts.
But tonight, tonight she needed space. Away from the squabbles, away from the thoughts of what must and must not be done, away from the need to be a leader, even if only for a breath.
[Set sometime after the Spellteaching scene, where Amihan had imagined a romantic walk. Amihan knows of Gale’s possible cataclysmic eruption, and Gale of Amihan’s past as a Talassan, and to-be vessel for the Mistress of Destruction.]
