Summary
He shot straight up in bed, eyes wide as he gasped for air. Dean was next to him, hands extended and eyebrows furrowed in concern. “Hey,” he said. “Hey, you’re alright.”
But he wasn’t alright. Sam couldn’t breathe, his chest was tight, his lungs couldn’t expand, his throat was raw - that didn’t seem very alright.
Dean reached for him again, but Sam flinched so hard Dean stopped in his tracks.
-
Or, Sam has a nightmare in the bunker, and Dean helps him through it, just like he always has.

Summary
“You—you died, Dean. Again. And… as I held your body, I just… waited. I waited to wake up again, because endless Tuesdays with you is better than a Wednesday without you, but… nothing.” He barks out a laugh, but it comes out a strangled sob, and he presses his palms against his eyes. “I must have sat in that parking lot for three hours, begging to go back, for this to be different. But nothing.”
“How long…?” Dean’s voice trembles, as if he’s afraid of the answer.
Sam swipes at his eyes, lowering his hands again to his lap. “Six months,” he breathes, a familiar detachment seeping into the words and adding a clinical edge.
Post Mystery Spot, a familiar song comes on in the Impala, sending Sam’s precariously built walls tumbling down. A much needed conversation between the brothers ensues.

Summary
Everything is always Sam's fault, even when he barely contributes; if he dropped a piece of plastic, people would find a way to blame him for the extinction of the Dodo bird.
He's accustomed to it, but that never makes it any less tiring. He's tired of being tired. He's tired of everything being on him.
—
Or: Sam and Dean fight about Sam always being blamed; it's not comfort, but it's progress in some way.
