Summary

Summary
It had been entirely innocent. Hadn’t it always, with him? There had been moments, sure, where Zelda had felt… well, something, presumably, something she had no name for, in his presence, but it had always been innocent.
It had been unprompted, the thought. Unwelcome, even. She hadn’t realized in the moment how depraved it was, until the thought passed, and she felt the urge to take a dip in the nearby Regencia River to clear her mind.
She was watching him clean his sword. His hand ran the length of the Master Sword with his handkerchief, and for a moment, Zelda saw a vision of his hand running the length of his—she stopped it, as soon as she realized what it was. She refused to put a name to it, to internally identify what exactly it was she had just thought.
She prayed a little extra that night, for a clear head. Hylia didn’t need to know the details about what her head needed to be clear from. It was irrelevant; a freak accident, some sort of glitch. It wouldn’t happen again.
It didn’t. Until it did.

Summary
Zelda plays a game with her knight. He doesn’t know he’s playing, but she’s sure he knows she’s playing with him. She isn’t subtle. The game is easier than she expected it to be, even though she still feels fiercely proud when she wins.
The rules are simple: Zelda tries to get Link to break the rules. Getting him to break any rule technically counts as victory, but the sweetest victories are the ones where she gets him to break a rule surrounding his oath.
