“Hush.” Her other hand cups his cheek tenderly, but he feels the threat in the motion. Excitement and fear thrum low in his belly. He tries to wet his lips to no avail, throat parched as she keeps up a steady rhythm.
“You’ve struggled with patience as of late, dear. Transforming in public, late to dinner but first to leave, speaking over your board members at meetings…don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
She twists her wrist and his eyes flutter closed, defense lost somewhere behind his teeth. Her nails dig into his jaw, grounding him enough to keep looking at her now stern face.
“I’m sorry–”
“Oh, you will be.”
