Summary
The door to the bookstore jingles joyfully when Trixie pushes it open, as though it too is happy she’s back. She’s immediately greeted with the welcome warmth of a little space heater stood near the reading nook. A couple of people browsing the bookshelves look up and greet her with soft, muted voices. Trixie barely has time to close the door behind her when Katya rushes over. She barely manages a “hi” before grabbing Trixie by the wrist and swiftly guiding her to the back of the store. Katya opens the door to the little hallway and pulls both of them, and Trixie’s gigantic suitcase, inside, before pressing Trixie against it.

Summary
Suddenly Trixie is very aware of how she must look. A day of traveling and sweltering heat haven’t done her any favours. She can still feel her top clinging to her back and the loose strands of hair that have escaped her ponytail are sticking to her neck and cheeks. Even her face is radiating. If Trixie looks disgusting, Katya doesn’t let on. She just smiles and tilts her head a little.

“They truly are an odd pair those two. Look at the snazzy shoes on him!” Katya’s pulled out of her trans.
“Hmmm, what?”
“The new neighbours, haven’t you seen them?” Oh right, the new neighbours, she had totally forgotten about them. Seen them around a couple of times, driving to and from the house across the street. Dragging in groceries and what look like musical instruments although Katya has no real way of knowing as she doesn’t play any herself and isn’t by any means a connoisseur in that area. She still hasn’t seen the woman’s face, somehow always as her back turned to Katya, it’s honestly a tad annoying.
