In Vampire; The Masquerade, the Lasombra recruit by breaking a person's world, and seeing how they react to this immense pressure. But sometimes, their work is very much done for them, and a person is ground into the mud while refusing to break.
But those of high morals are often broken down further, having their Humanity quickly dispelled so that they can be useful to the Clan's greater machinations.
Here is a Shadow without loftier goals, and one who honestly did not take to their unlife well... or rather, a character who could have easily fulfilled that archetype. You tell me you haven't seen it, and I'll ask if you've never seen the Villain Izuku fan art. -

Summary
When Izuku wakes up after the entrance exam, he expected one of two things. One, to be accepted into U.A. by the skin of his teeth, or Two, for All Might to demand his quirk back when he failed. What he wasn't expecting, however, was a group of teachers who give a damn about his mental wellbeing to come to him, and make him the best hero the world had ever seen
A.K.A. Nedzu calls Yagi on his bull, and makes sure Izuku gets the training he needs to not suffer grievous (self inflicted) physical harm. Featuring Aizawa, who is suddenly a father of two troubled kids after just one week.

But with rumors swirling about a certain club, and him being the only agent to have experience with the Blanks (read: Survived by sheer luck), it's thrown to him to investigate. Just another club with stupid kids, exploring unhealthy kinks and exaggerating for others to take out of context... probably.
