    Izuku mocked his words, repeating them back as he stood up and grumbled, “Shut up.”

    “Shut the fuck up!” Izuku screamed. His body stumbled sideways. His shoulder caught on the wall and kept him upright as he focused on keeping his breathing stable. “You can have that damn quirk. You can have it…have it- and…” He took another few breaths and pushed up until he was standing, finally. “You can fucking die with it.”

    OR: Izuku is kidnapped by AFO and tortured. It leaves him missing more than just OFA, but also a large part of himself and pieces of his body. Getting back to 'normal' will be a struggle, but he's got support, right?

    That smile feels a bit too much like light. Like warmth. Like true, actual healing.

    Inside his own chest, everything burns as his heart pounds so hard, it feels like it’s trying to escape his ribcage. He places his hand over where it beats.

    Take it easy, Katsuki tries to tell himself, just like the doctors did. Even though he knows this has been a losing battle for some time now.

    The sound of footsteps jolts him out of his thoughts. Izuku smothers a scream behind his hand, the lunchbox perched on his lap shaking with his convulsions. In his two years of eating here thus far, no one has walked in on him before. Beside him, the cubicle door slams closed, and he can hear the shuffling noises of someone sitting down on the toilet seat. The crinkle of a plastic wrapper, quiet chewing sounds. 

    It takes him a while to realise that the stranger next door is eating their lunch in the bathroom, too. For a long moment Izuku just sits there motionless, fingers clasped around his chopsticks in a vice grip. Eventually the panic subsides, and in its place is an unusual camaraderie he feels with the stranger.

    Before he knows it, he’s blurting out, “Hi I’m Midoriya Izuku.”

    Izuku eats his lunch in the bathroom. One day, he's joined by a stranger in the cubicle next door.
