  Summary

  The United Nations Space Command (UNSC) finds itself in the final phase of a long, desperate struggle against the Covenant armada. This brutal conflict, which began on February 11, 2525, is hurtling towards its climax.

  On August 30, 2552, the Fortress World of Reach fell, plunging humanity into even deeper desperation. In a bid to save Earth, the UNSC's Second Fleet received urgent orders to return at all costs. Amid their haste, a minor error in the coordinates given to the FTL drives went unnoticed, resulting in an unexpected detour.
