When Plutt kicks Rey out in the cold, she calls the one person who can help her - her former tutor Ben. But his rescue is just the start of changes for them both...
“Hello, Rey?”
For some reason, the deep voice in her ear made Rey’s knees buckle, and she had to take a step to balance herself. “Ben, hi, yeah, it’s me.”
“It’s good to hear from you! What’s up?”
She squeezed her eyes shut. “Um. I’m...I’m kind of in trouble, and I...maybe - maybe you could help?”
It was humiliating to have to ask, and her throat tightened, expecting - she didn’t know what. He wasn’t cruel, but some excuse perhaps, it was late and bad weather and -
“Rey, of course, what do you need? Are you okay?”
