Summary
Severus Snape didn't want to live. He never really had. He dedicated his life to redeeming his sins and when he believed he had done so, he was ready to die. He had nothing left, he always knew he wouldn't come out alive from the war. But he did, and now he has to deal with the shame of having confided his biggest secrets to Potter, of being considered a hero when he just wants to set himself on fire, and of having a whole life ahead of him that he didn't want or plan. The only thing he can do is retreat to the place he detests the most, where no one can bother him: the horrible house of his childhood. There he thinks he will continue to live, but at least he will be alone.
Or so he thought, until the day he saw you standing in front of his door.

You're the new Care of Magical Creatures professor at Hogwarts, called by Dumbledore due to your history of outstanding class rankings. You take the staff train to Hogwarts a couple weeks before the new year begins, as is standard for professors. However, due to no real teaching experience, the headmaster requires you to spend some time getting teaching training from the ever so loathesome man you met on your journey: Severus Snape. Things start off tense with dislike, but eventually, you feel the tension turn in a different direction...
