The first time he sees her, she is but a little sapling in her crib. He had peered in, almost transfixed by a midnight haired babe who seemed rather interested in the ceiling than the new face looking at her. She is a soft girl and she smelled too much like curdled milk. He could tell she had not been difficult to bring into the world with how small she seemed. He had even wondered if she would blow away if he sneezed too hard. He looked at the infant, at the faint flutter of lashes and for a fleeting second, the world stopped feeling so jagged.
"I am your brother," He says to the small babe whose nose twitched, "I did not want you."
Sometimes he thinks that he loved her after all. Sometimes he thinks he despised her despite all.
