Summary
Cardan didn’t understand what had happened immediately. One moment, he had been talking to one of the many petitioners, and the next he was shoved to the side by his wife. His darling wife, who now stood in his place, a knife deeply lodged in her stomach.

I’m feeling sick so Jude has to feel sick too. All characters belong to Holly Black (PSA if you haven’t seen her ears you should look them up they’re super cool).

Set some years after The Queen of Nothing. A cosy, folksy little ficlet that’s so sugar plum sweet it’ll probably rot your teeth. Canon compliant and not related to my other works. Just a lil something to put under your tree :)
Spice Level: Cinnamon. So mild you might not even notice it.
Enjoy! x

Aretia; not Basgiath. Riorson House; not a cold, dark, stone cell. Another flash of light brings reality into focus for milliseconds before it’s shrouded back into darkness. The ground rumbles again, and the storm beckons. The relic on my back burns as crackling energy paths through my veins ordering every hair on my body to stand at attention.

Summary
Violet's first night in Samara is proving quite difficult. After the hypothetical 'kiss me' question left her breathless, the shielding practice did not go the way she would have liked. She's not sure how long she's been pretending to sleep with her back to him, but it feels like an eternity, and sleep isn't coming. Now what? Violet POV.
