Summary
"—They think of each other, you know?" she says, insistent. "They’re always just there."
"I know," Franziska says again. She's waiting for the point. Maya tries to swallow, but her throat is dry and convulses rebelliously.
"They're like us," she says quietly.
The hand in her hair shifts again, this time turning her face up until she's looking its owner in the eyes.
"No one is like us," says her stupid, egotistical, god-complex girl-friend, in what Maya assumes has to be the most egregious and most touching display of Missing The Point in all of human history.
Of anti-confessions, and a love which is made up of what is shared and what is not.Or: In which sometimes, you get lucky, and people love you the same way you love them.
