Summary
Mono no aware (物の哀れ): an awareness of the impermanence of things, and a gentle appreciation for their passing.
Mike Wheeler doesn't know what comes after Hawkins. Will Byers does - or at least, he has a list.
When Mike finds Will's bucket list while helping him pack for college, he turns it into one last summer project: complete every goal before Will leaves. But as the days slip by and the list grows longer, Mike begins to realise that the future he's been so afraid of might hold more than just goodbyes.
After all, some things don't end. They simply change form.

Summary
Since Will Byers moved to New York he's done his best to put his past behind him. He goes to college, loves his new friends, and tries not to think about the things he'd rather forget. Things like... Mike Wheeler. He hasn't picked up his calls for a year, not opened any of his letters. And Will starts to think he might finally forget about him.
That is, until Mike shows up at his mother's house for Christmas celebration.

Summary
"When you get to wherever you're going, will you..." he falters for a moment, the words almost too hard to say. "...will you forget about me?"
Will looks at him, like he can't believe what Mike had asked.
Then, he throws his arms around Mike, holding onto him like is trying to tie their souls together, so that their bodies would not feel so lonely while being apart.
"Never."
Or: Will tells Mike he is leaving Hawkins for good. And Mike has no other choice than to let him go.
